오픈스페이스 배(OpenSpace Bae)는 비영리단체로써 시각예술 중심의 현대미술을 위한 하나의 진취적 통로이며 
빠르게 변화하고 확장하는 미술개념을 반영하는 능동적 공간이 되고자 하는 의지로 출발하고자 한다.

처음 배 밭에 위치했던 공간에서 시작하여 이러한 장소 특이성으로 인해 배(pear)라는 이름과 부산지역의 지역성을 의미하는 배(ship), 
발전하고 증가하는 배(double)라는 다의적인 의미로 ‘오픈 스페이스 배’라는 이름이 탄생하게 되었다. 

새로운 공간에서 구성원들이 한 배(ship)를 타고 현대미술의 발전(double)을 도모한다는 취지를 품고 있다.

새로운 형태의 전시 시스템을 반영하고자 하며 미술의 새로운 이슈들을 적극 수용하고 작가들에게 자유로운 작품발표와 

현장제작 공간을 제공하고자 한다. 특히 열악한 미술제작 환경에서 고갈되기 쉬운 작가적 상상력과 도발적 창작 작업의 

생산을 지원하는 레지던시 프로그램으로 미술계의 지형도를 새롭고 자유롭게 그려나가는 데 일조하고자 한다.

다양한 지원프로그램의 개발은 역량 있는 신진작가 및 젊은 정신의 작가발굴에 일조하고 실험적이고 대안적 유형의 기획전을 

유치, 발표할 수 있도록 한다. 원칙적으로 작가와 기획중심의 비영리 공간으로써 부각할 수 있는 상황을 지원하고자 한다.

동시에 전국에서 모인 작가들. 큐레이터. 평론가들과의 교류의 소통의 장이 되어 구체적 정보의 축적과 실질적 네트워크로 

한국미술의 활성화와 함께 참된 네트워크를 이루어내고자 한다.

'Openspace Bae' is an alternative exhibition space. 

'Bae' in the name is a Korean word with manifold meanings; a pear, a ship or double. The name itself signifies location of the space in the pear orchard, locality of Busan as a harbor city and promotion(double) of art. The name of the space represents our will to the promotion of contemporary art in the new space. 

Our Mission 

The goal of Openspacebae is to be a path to contemporary art world, which reflects actively and promptly the rapid change of art. 

By developing a new system of exhibition and embracing new issues of contemporary art, we aim to provide the artists with space and chance to present their art. Especially, our Artist-in-Residence program will help them to draw a new vision of contemporary art by supporting their artistic imagination and experiments. 
Also, our various support programs will create an opportunity to find promising young artists and to invite experimental exhibitions in alternative forms. Basically, we would like to support non-profit projects with an emphasis on artistic experiments or experimental ideas. 

Located in the outskirt of the city and surrounded with nature-friendly environment, Openspacebae is a space for those who wish to break away from white cubes and the institutional framework for the sake of true freedom of art. It will be a platform of communication for artists, curators and critics from across the country, where they can exchange substantial information and construct a steady network.
