Based on what he found out in the city, he did start his works. To look at the time-based level of the city, he searched the modern-times Korean history which is the fact of the past. The reason why he has started to find out a diary is not just to see the mere old documents which were recorded but to figure out a daily life of one typical individual. A diary of mr.Lee who had lived in Masan in 1956 is the stepping stone of his works. By extracting a particular parts from the diary, he tries to reveal the phases of the times at that moment and character’s everyday life. Likewise, there are videos which followed character’s track in Masan at the moment, containing the place he had traced. You can recognize there is a time difference between the past when mr.Lee wrote his diary and contemporary Masan. As he shows these two disparate constituents with one display, he conveys the audience a connection between the past and the modern times though they are basically separated from each other; if there is no past, there is no present.

As a part of an ongoing project, a web-based archive is presented inside the exhibition. The project as a whole, a form of socio-cultural research, is an installation that reinterprets and presents individuals’ acts of resistance to the gaze of surveillance.
The artist registers domain names (peertopeer.kr, womantowoman.kr) and streams videos that are updated over time. The video is constructed from materials found on Twitter and by scanning the walls of women’s public restroom stalls that have tiny holes, which curiously filled with bits of toilet paper or stickers. It signals a growing concern against the use of micro cameras used to spy on women and infringements of their privacy. By altering the use of existing surveillance technologies, the artist collects traces of a woman's actions and shares them with others. The term peer-to-peer file sharing is redefined as an act of sharing between women and the invisible acts of individuals are translated into relational acts of solidarity.

Yuhsin U Chang

Yuhsin U Chang thought about our living environment affect us as individuals; and individuals also affect our environment. She’s art work are based on the local characteristics and natural media as a starting point. Walking along the coastline of Busan, one side is the sea, the rock, the sand, the water, the wind, the waves sound and movement; the other side is like a forest of tall buildings, short trees, car sound, voices. She uses these elements from this coastline, and changing the point of view by far or close, great or small, still or moving, to compose a landscape.

Artwork1_ Bryophyllum, one kind of succulent plants (다육식물), is also named as "Leaf of Life", "Mother-of-Thousands", etc. It is notable for vegetatively growing small plantlets on the fringes of the leaves; these eventually drop off and root, continuously. Bryophyllum can grow vigorously in any tough condition. Because of its strong vitality, it is also named as "Bird of Never-die"(不死鳥).
With this map, you can create various routes to seek the plantlets of Bryophyllum while you may enjoy the journey of exploration in the Osan Village(오산마을) and the neighbourhood.

Artwork2_ During the artist-in-residence period, I collected the various feeling about the sea from different people on the Haeundae Beach(해운대해수욕장). With providing a marker pen and a notebook, people could express their instant feelings by writing or drawing in their own language. Also, having conversations with different people, they would like to share their interesting experiences in Haeundae with me.

With all these collected meaningful writings and drawings, I further develop them into an artistic poem which is considering the sense of visual, hearing, and smell for the audiences.

When travelling between harbors, the waves beat against the shore, the ships in the harbor swing back and forth, the anglers repeat their movements over and over again. Even the toaster is repeating "di-da"…… I'll relate these phenomena with the life experiences, like a lie be told over 100 times it will turn into truth. It seems that all the sounds are trying to cover our life experiences via repeating. It is obvious that all of them are into our body memory. In this moment, most of the people will choose to adapt to the society, what about you? I choose to try to keep "strangeness" with my surroundings. This "strangeness" is a way of jumping under the experiences, and only in this way can I get more information.
