The main purpose of this project is a cultural approaching to the unused space which located uptown of Busan, South Korea. We know this is will be a tiny sound of us who  are worrying about disappearing of historical things in this city but we wish this project will be returned as a big echo. This is not just an exhibition but also discussion about an issue of  cultural phenomenon which is going to be disappeared in the name of economical efficiencies. This program can be a positive reference for the people who are looking for alternative solution to make a value of less useful spaces in a city. It will collaborated with artists who works in East Asia because of similar situations and modern history. ‘Local to Local’ is one of most important project of Openspace Bae for a long time. We dream an alternative art ecosystem by this project with many of artists who has different nationality and locality but who having a same focus. Further more, there will be a new network of contemporary art scene which titled ‘East Asian Connection’ with many of artists who have networked with us in this uptown of Busan.   ritesh ajmeri_changing-skin_2ch videos  ritesh ajmeri_changing-skin_2ch videos         SHU Yang, Where Have I Been after the 4th June 1989,live art, 2006, Berlin, Germany         wu dar kuen_32 Word’s Dream Vision”-2_video installation       동아시아 커넥션 프로젝트 이 프로젝트는 버려진 도시 유휴 공간을 활용한 예술적 커뮤니케이션을 통해서 지역성을 성찰하는 작업이다. 이것은 작은 시도이기는 하지만, 그 울림은 결코 작은 것이 아니다. 도시 공간 속에서 인간의 삶의 방식으로서의 문화의 가치를 재발견하고, 나아가 예술을 통해 사람과 도시의 속살을 들여다보는 프로젝트이다. 동아시아를 거점으로 활동하고 있는 작가들이 이곳 부산에서 네트워킹 프로젝트를 실천해 보는 좋은 계기가 될 것이고 이로 인해 유휴 공간 활성화 방안에 유용한 담론을 창출할 것으로 기대하고 있다. 은 오픈스페이스 배가 수년간 고민하고 실천해온 화두이다. 국가단위에서 지역단위로 소통과 교류의 폭을 옮기는 일을 통해서 예술가들의 창작활동은 물론 그 시민들과의 소통을 모색함으로써 건강한 미술생태를 만드는 데 함께할 것이다. 그간의 네트워크를 통해 응집된 예술가들과 함께 이곳 부산의 원 도심에서 현대미술의 현주소를 만나는 동아시아 예술 연대를 시도할 것이다. Intention For a long time Busan was considered just as an aside city of Seoul (center) or still it is. But today is a network era which can make a communication person to person, local to local  even across the boundary of countries. Now we live in a real global society  because of the benefit of a network. This project, ‘local to local’, makes a gathering of international artists in a building of  uptown of Busan which called Baekje hospital. Baekje hospital does not run with it’s original purpose anymore but it is still very important building as a modern historical heritage of Busan. It was founded 1922 in Waegwan area as a first private hospital of Busan.  Despite of the building’s physical condition that is still good enough and also has Busan’s modern stories but it is almost abandoned in this city  because of just an economical reason.
